The Background Report is completed!
Check out the Background Report for the research and community input that will inform the General Plan!
What is a General Plan?
A General Plan can be described as the "blueprint" for the City’s future. It represents the community's vision as goals and policies to direct decision-making and future development. California state law requires that each city adopt a general plan addressing seven mandatory components or "elements": Land Use, Circulation, Housing, Conservation, Open Space, Noise, and Safety. Additional elements that will be added are Economic Development, Public Facilities, Community Design and Health.
The Planning Process
How Do I get Involved?
Over the next several months there will be numerous ways for the public to participate in this process. For all information related to the update residents are encouraged to visit the project website at www.planClearlake.weebly.com. There people will be able to participate in an online survey, see the when the next meetings are, add photos to the photo gallery and review all relevant documents and presentations about the general plan update.
Cal Poly and the City will also hold a series of public workshops, which will give people a chance to work with our graduate student team in the development of the General Plan update.
The City’s goal is to engage as many residents, business owners and stakeholders as possible to ensure that the Plan reflects the vision of the entire community.
